What to Expect

How to prepare for your journey to a calmer central nervous system

Before Your First Visit

How to prepare

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing

  • Eat a light meal 2-3 hours before (avoid being too full or too hungry)

  • Arrive 10 minutes early to complete simple intake forms

What to bring

  • Any relevant medical information you would like to share

  • A list of current medications or supplements

  • Information about your stress management goals

  • Any questions you have about the work

Your Session Experience

Consultation

The session begins with a conversation about your central nervous system health goals. This is your opportunity to share:

  • What you're hoping to achieve with nervous system support

  • Any specific areas of stress or discomfort

  • Your current approaches to stress management and wellness

  • Any questions about how craniosacral therapy works

This conversation helps Nancy understand how to best support your central nervous system regulation.

Treatment

You lie comfortably on a treatment table, fully clothed, while Nancy uses very gentle touch on your head, spine, and sacrum (lower back). You may experience:

  • Deep relaxation and nervous system calming

  • Subtle sensations of tension release

  • Better awareness of your body's stress patterns

  • A profound sense of rest and nervous system regulation

Nancy can narrate what she is noticing throughout if that helps you feel more informed and at ease. She will check in periodically and adjust to your comfort level at all times.

For infant sessions, your baby remains in your arms or on the table near you throughout. Nancy works with the same light touch, following your baby's cues and pausing whenever needed.

Closing care & integration

After the hands-on work, we'll discuss:

  • How your nervous system responded to the treatment

  • Simple approaches that might support ongoing CNS regulation

  • Whether additional sessions would benefit your nervous system health

  • Scheduling follow-up appointments if desired

Following Your Session

Self care

  • Drink plenty of water to support your nervous system function

  • Rest when your body requests it

  • Pay attention to how your stress response changes

  • Notice improvements in sleep quality and daily stress management

  • Contact me if you have questions about your nervous system's response

After effects

In the hours and days following your session, you might experience:

  • Continued nervous system calming and better sleep

  • Improved ability to manage daily stressors

  • Increased awareness of your stress response patterns

  • Enhanced sense of nervous system balance

  • Greater ease in movement and daily activities

Ongoing Care

Many clients notice meaningful shifts within one or two sessions. Others find that a series of sessions allows deeper and more lasting change, giving the nervous system time to establish new patterns of ease.

There is no prescribed number of sessions. After your first visit Nancy will share her observations and discuss what ongoing care might look like for your specific situation. The pace and frequency of sessions is always your decision.

Some clients return monthly or seasonally as part of their ongoing wellness practice. Others come as needed. Both are welcome.
